How to distribute assets on macOS

Applivery agent helps distribute assets to macOS devices, enabling the deployment of scripts, apps, files, certificates, and images across devices.

Types of resources #

Scripts Deploy bash scripts to automate tasks like software installation and system configurations.
Apps Deploy custom or third-party-apps to ensure employees have the necessary tools.
Files Deploy documents like PDFs or eBooks.
Certificates Deploy certificates to secure device connections.
Images Deploy images in .jpg or .png formats.

Distribution levels #

Primary user Resources are stored in ~/AppliveryAssets/ for primary user access by default.
All users Resources stored in /Users/Shared/AppliveryAssets/, accessible by all users by default.
System level Resources are stored in /var/root/AppliveryAssets/ for system-wide access by default.

Steps to distribute resources #

Access the assets menu #

  • Log in to Applivery.
  • Navigate to the Resources section.

Upload the asset #

  • Select the type of asset (script, app, file, certificate, image).
  • Upload the file from your device.

Assign the asset to a policy #

  • Link the uploaded resource to a policy, determining its deployment conditions.

Select the distribution level #

  • Choose the appropriate distribution level (Primary User, All Users, System) to ensure correct access and permissions.
